Short answer
Moroccans usually greet with 'Salam' or 'Salamu alaykum', followed by several friendly questions about health and family. Replying warmly and taking your time is part of good manners.
Everyday greetings
- Salamu alaykum — peace be upon you (reply: wa alaykum salam)
- Sbah lkhir — good morning
- Msa lkhir — good evening
- Labas? — how are you? (reply: labas, lhamdulillah)
- Kidayr? / Kidayra? — how are you? (to a man / woman)
Greeting etiquette
